BATON ROUGE, La. — At least 10 people were injured Thursday afternoon after an argument between two groups escalated into a shootout inside the food court at the Mall of Louisiana.Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas S. “TJ” Morse Jr. said officers received reports of shots fired around 1:22 p.m. local time. Surveillance video reviewed by investigators shows the incident began as a dispute between two groups of people, who then opened fire on each other.”Unfortunately, there were some innocent people that were in the area that might have also caught some rounds,” Chief Morse said during a press conference.The chief described the shooting as targeted rather than a random act of violence. He confirmed the scene is now secure, with no ongoing threat to the public. Suspects fled the area, and a search for them remains active.Ten victims were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging in severity. Some were taken by emergency medical services, while others arrived in private vehicles. At least two people are reported to be in critical condition.The Mall of Louisiana was placed on lockdown immediately after the shooting, causing chaos as shoppers fled the food court area. No fatalities have been reported so far.This remains an active investigation. Police have not yet released the identities or ages of the victims or any suspect descriptions.
